An aristocratic snowdrop and arguably one the most beautiful, with handsome leaves and large flowers that carry bold markings. Originating from the Aegean Islands of Greece, it was first discovered on the island of Ikaria in 1893, where it occurs naturally in wet and shady places in river gorges, by streams and in deciduous woodland.
Galanthus ikariae remains a collector’s snowdrop and is rarely seen in gardens. Its growing requirements are a little more fussy than other varieties as it is slightly less hardy, but give it a sheltered position in shade, in moist, freely- draining ground and it will readily self-seed to form large colonies.
Galanthus ikariae is a green-leaved snowdrop, with broad, dark green foliage that is distinctly mat. The large flowers carry a single bold green mark that covers more than half of the inner perianth. One of the last species to flower in cultivation, Galanthus ikariae makes an elegant finale to the snowdrop season. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 10cm (4in)
A late-flowering, rarely seen collector’s snowdrop that is one of the most beautiful, with handsome leaves and large flowers that carry bold markings.Plant snowdrops in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. Snowdrop bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of snowdrop flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
Galanthus woronowii naturally grows in areas with high rainfall but enjoys a very well-drained soil. Grow in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil that does not dry out in summer – avoid sunbaked spots. If growing in troughs, raised beds or rock gardens choose a spot with light shade.

Live Plants
Organic Garden Catalogue strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
Non Standard Deliveries
Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.
Very Large items
If ordering any large items marked a surcharge of £5 per item will be applied. These items are also not available to areas and postcodes shown under non standard deliveries. We may need to contact you regarding delivery so please provide a contact number with all orders.
Prices include VAT where applicable.
We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.
We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.
