What is ericaceous compost?

Ericaceous compost has a low pH value of between four and five making it the perfect growing medium for acid loving plants like blueberries, rhododendrons and azaleas. It’s a good idea to pH test your soil before planting acid loving plants. If your garden soil is alkaline, simply fill pots with ericaceous compost and grow your acid-loving plants on the patio or resting in pots in garden beds.

Is Organic Catalogue's compost peat free?

Yes the Organic Gardening Catalogue’s compost is 100% peat free. Using peat free compost is a great way to reduce the environmental impact of your garden and is a fantastic product for using in your pots, seed trays and garden mulches.

Can you reuse compost?

It’s best to not reuse your potting compost. Add your old potting compost to the compost heap where it’ll improve the texture of your home mix as it breaks down. Using fresh compost every year ensures that your plants and seeds get all the nutrients they need to thrive and there’s no risk of spreading pesky soil-borne problems like vine weevil and ‘damping off’ to your new seedlings and plants.
