An unusual vegetable which has been mentioned in literature going back two centuries, and is truly both ‘use and ornament’. The stout stems can be cut early-mid winter, dried for up to 2 years in a frost free place, then sanded and varnished to make a walking stick!
Plants reach up to 2m from an early spring sowing, and up to 3m in the second year!
Best sown after the end of April to prevent running to seed. Harvest a few leaves through the season and enjoy like any other kale. 240 seeds.
