 | This is grown for the large white bulb which is grated on to salads or braised as a vegetable. The chopped leaves can be used like Common Fennel (see Herbs section). Mulch well and water in dry conditions. Do not transplant from a plug or seed tray as this increases the likelihood of bolting. Either sow direct and thin out, or fennel does well started in root trainers as this minimises root disturbance. |
